Empire East Land Holdings Inc., a subsidiary of Megaworld Corporation, is developing two mixed-use project with a total land area of almost 25 hectares. In an interview after the firm’s annual stockholders’ meeting, Empire East president Anthony Charlemagne Yu said the first one is a 23 hectare lot in Pasig City which used to be the site of a factory. He said they are still finalizing the acquisition of property, which will be bigger than parent company Megaworld’s flagship Eastwood City. Yu said “we have not finalized anything yet there. We’ve shook hands on it so very bullish about things.” “We’re going to call it Empire East City. We are going to have mixed use development there. The project will be developed in phases,” Yu said adding that they are also looking to acquire other properties but most have yet to be firmed up. Meanwhile, Yu said they will also be undertaking the mixed-use development for the site of Broadway Centrum near the border of Quezon City and San Juan which has a lot size of 1.7 hectares. “We’re still checking on the timeline of when to launch our Broadway Centrum project because we would have both retail and condo. But for the retail we will have Megaworld Lifestyle Mall manage it for us,” Yu said.
